Waterplay® makes a double splash with two Leading Edge Awards

Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, October 8, 2026

Waterplay, a global leader in aquatic play headquartered in Kelowna, B.C., made two trips to the stage at the World Waterpark Association’s (WWA) annual symposium in Las Vegas, earning Leading Edge Awards for its work on two standout destinations in Vietnam: Sun World Vũng Tàu and Aquatopia Water Park.

The WWA Leading Edge Award recognizes innovation and leadership that advance creativity, technology, and guest experience within the water attractions industry.

“To be recognized with two Leading Edge Awards is incredibly meaningful, particularly as we continue to see the impact of our work across Vietnam,” said Jill White, President of Waterplay. “Following last year’s recognition for another project in Vietnam, these awards speak to the ambition of our partners and what’s possible when great design, thoughtful collaboration and a shared belief in the power of play come together. Sun World Vũng Tàu and Aquatopia are exceptional destinations, and we’re proud to have played a part in creating experiences that will bring joy to children and families for years to come.”

Covering 15 hectares, Sun World Vũng Tàu is one of the region’s largest and most technically advanced beachfront water parks, featuring 20 major attractions and nearly 100 water slide lanes. Waterplay’s splash pad adds another dimension to the destination, giving visitors space to splash, explore and play at their own pace. Among its many features, nautical elements like Sloop, Ogopogo, and Whale Tail play off the park’s oceanside setting, while Sand Shell, Sea Urchin, and Reef Star introduce gentler, sensory-rich moments for younger visitors. Together, they create an aquatic play experience with room for big reactions, quiet discovery and plenty of fun along the way.

Part of the larger Sun World Hòn Thơm destination, Aquatopia Water Park covers eight hectares and features more than 20 water attractions across six themed areas. Here, Waterplay’s splash pad turns up the energy, pairing big, attention-grabbing splashes with hands-on play that puts visitors at the centre of the action. Towering features like the Mega Soaker, Sneaky Soaker 3, and Poly Palm Coco deliver bursts of water from above, while interactive elements such as Spinny Squirt, Twisty Tango, and Carronade invite visitors to take control, experiment, and play together.

Proudly Canadian-owned and manufactured, Waterplay brings together local craftsmanship, global experience, and a commitment to quality to create joyful aquatic play spaces for communities around the world. The two Leading Edge Awards build on Waterplay’s international recognition and demonstrate its continued commitment to creating accessible, inclusive aquatic play spaces that are designed to reflect the people and communities who use them.
