Ank'idaa Community Recreation and Leisure Park Splash Pad

A park and splash pad to serve the entire community! 

When the remote village of Laxgalts’ap decided to create a recreation and leisure park for the community, they knew they wanted to build a space that would serve as a hub for not only the village, but the surrounding communities as well. They wanted to create an amenity that would help bring people back to the community and settle with their families.

Working with the team at Parkworks, they decided on a robust community park design that included a playground, outdoor fitness area, outdoor basketball court, walking paths, and a splash pad. Aimed to appeal to users of all ages and abilities, the Ank'idaa Community Recreation and Leisure Park truly has something for everyone!

The perfect way to beat the heat during those hot summer months, Waterplay designed a splash pad that would serve the community by providing lots of play value for people of all ages and abilities. A Big Top Soaker provides thrilling splashes for older waterplayers, while the Splash Blasters and Water-O provide gentler splashes for younger children. Ground sprays help to tie the splash pad together, creating the smallest of sprays for the youngest of waterplayers.

A Fish Fellow helps tie the splash pad in with the rest of the park design, which was inspired by the salmon fish that hold great cultural significance to the entire community of Laxgalts’ap. The zero-depth design helps create an accessible, inclusive space that can be enjoyed by anyone who chooses to stop by to splash around!
