Vera’s Water Garden

A beloved community hotspot for decades, Vera’s Water Garden has recently been revitalized into a modern, zero-depth splash pad. The project replaced the former wading pool with a safe, inclusive aquatic play space designed for all ages and abilities. 

Part of The Entrance Revitalization Project, the upgrades focused on enhancing accessibility, improving the water filtration system, and eliminating standing water across the splash pad. Vera, the long-standing focal point of the space, has been watching over The Entrance Foreshore for nearly 30 years. When the community voted in favour of keeping her and integrating her into the new design, she received a vibrant makeover and continues to stand as an iconic feature within the revitalized play space. 

Two accessible wheelchair entry points, paired with an action-packed and innovative layout, encourage movement and exploration throughout the splash pad. A floating floor system was used to transform the existing wading pool into a zero-depth splash pad, allowing the Waterplay Australia team to minimize site impact in this environmentally sensitive location while still delivering a high-quality, interactive aquatic play experience. 

Interactive, modern Waterplay splash pad features like the Spiral Tunnel, Cadabra Cannon, Aqua Knot, and Twirl-Whirl provide fun sprays from every angle, while the Aqua Drop builds anticipation as kids watch the bucket fill with water before splashing onto the play area. Cushy, slip-resistant splash pad surfacing from Life Floor helped pull the rest of the design together, providing a safe place where kids can play all day.  

Vibrant and full of life, the revitalization of Vera’s Water Garden delivers a sustainable, family-friendly destination that maximizes play value, celebrates local heritage, and meets contemporary safety and design standards.
