Waterplay® Solutions announces Ava’s Aquatic Play Pad as the grand prize winner of the Make Way for Water Play Contest, which celebrates 25 years of innovation for Waterplay.

Kelowna, BC, Canada, January 31, 2013 — After asking the public to vote for a favourite finalist in the Make Way for Water Play Contest, Waterplay® Solutions Corp. is pleased to announce the grand prize winner: Ava’s Aquatic Play Pad, located in Mount Juliet, Tennessee!

The Make Way for Water Play Contest kicked off in February 2012 to celebrate 25 years of innovation for Waterplay. The contest provided entrants with the opportunity to win up to 25% off Waterplay product for projects scheduled for completion in 2013. Based on the level of community impact, design and the stories behind the projects, Waterplay selected two finalists — Ava’s Aquatic Play Pad and the Chase Kraynick Pay It Forward Aquatic Play Pad — then opened up the selection of a winner to a public vote.

The finalists were dedicated to spreading their stories and participation in the contest throughout their communities and to local media. With the number of votes totaling over 13,000, both successfully showcased their projects and gained support for their causes. With 60% of the vote, Ava’s Aquatic Play Pad has been awarded the grand prize.

“The inspiration for this project came from Ava’s love for water,” says Krista Bright, who entered Ava’s Aquatic Play Pad into the contest in memory of her daughter. “We wanted to bring water and water play to our community to honour Ava. Winning the Make Way for Water Play Contest will help make the project we’ve dreamed about a reality.”

Ava’s Aquatic Play Pad will be installed this year, and will be a representation of all the things Ava Bright loved, with custom air-brushed strawberry and blueberry graphics, monkey water cannons, and rainbow arches, all in bright, happy colours. As runner-up, the Chase Kraynick Pay It Forward Aquatic Play Pad in Canora, Saskatchewan receives a $5,000 credit towards Waterplay product, as well as two ground sprays.

Waterplay wishes to congratulate both finalists, as well as all other contestants. Waterplay is excited to commemorate its 25th anniversary with the excitement of this contest, and by bringing the joy of water to communities around the world.
